Meet the Artist
Matthew Fries is a celebrated pianist and composer whose career spans decades of performance, recording, and teaching. His music is praised for its playful, introspective, and joyful nature, marked by vivid tonal colors and a deeply rooted sense of swing. As a leader and sideman, he has toured the globe, recorded extensively, and played alongside legends such as DeeDee Bridgewater, Curtis Stigers, and Terell Stafford. Currently a Professor of Jazz Piano at Western Michigan University, Matthew continues to inspire both audiences and students with his passionate approach to jazz.
