Meet the Artist

Jormilit Garcia’s musical journey spans continents and genres, rooted in her Venezuelan upbringing and honed through an impressive career as both a soloist and ensemble member. In Miami, she sang backgrounds for industry legends like Shakira, Gloria Estefan, Pedro Capó, and even reggae icons The Wailers. Currently based in Kalamazoo, Jormilit studies in WMU’s award-winning Jazz Studies program and is a featured performer in the acclaimed vocal jazz group Gold Company under Greg Jasperse. She’s also part of the Jason Max Ferdinand Singers, touring the country and gracing prestigious stages like Lincoln Center and The Kennedy Center. A passionate ambassador of Latin music, Jormilit’s performances are infused with fiery rhythms, heartfelt melodies, and the rich sounds of her Hispanic roots.
